TOWN Sports

TOWN Sports was founded in 2015 by four community-oriented moms from Farmington who just can’t bring themselves to drive more than 10 minutes to buy (yet another) mouth guard, or rush home from work only to miss the two-hour Wednesday evening window to order custom apparel for ________ (fill in the sport) season. Janie Tutewohl, Anne Olson, Karen Wisdorf, and Shannon Nielsen are residents of Farmington dedicated to the expansion of amenities and services, including retail offerings, that will make the lives of our neighbors better. Our goal is to provide Farmington and its surrounding communities with a place to buy sporting equipment, apparel and fan wear – and to become not only your go-to place for your sporting needs, but also a place to obtain resources related to sporting activities in our community. Our commitment to the community extends to assisting youth sports associations, parent teacher partnerships and community organizations with their apparel and fundraising efforts. In 2015 alone, we donated over $1750 to youth and community organizations.

Janie (Nielsen) Tutewohl

Janie and her husband are lifelong residents in 55024 and parents of 2 boys who were raised as Tiger football, baseball, hockey and track participants and went on to play college football at St. Olaf just down the road in Northfield. Janie owns and sells residential and commercial real estate in Farmington and has since 1990; she has retail background for the past 6 years owning the Market on Oak Gift Shoppe and enjoys long walks on Third Street. Janie has a passion for forward thinking and future planning for Farmington and its residents and wants all of the shops to thrive, the businesses to grow and the residents to LIVE, LOVE your hometowns! You can reach Janie at 651-247-5132

Anne (Nielsen) Olson

A real estate lawyer by day, Anne is a budding entrepreneur by night (and by night, we mean middle of the night). Anne grew up with a Farmington zip code, but attended Rosemount Schools before heading to Drake University and then landing in the big city of Minneapolis for ten years before moving “back home”. Anne and her husband Dennis have two children (Clare, 11; Peter, 8) and are most likely to be found at volleyball practice, hanging out in Schmitz-Maki arena, on the football, softball or baseball fields – or maybe in the stands at a swim meet or in one of the uncomfortable chairs at a band concert or choir performance. Anne manages to service her legal clients commuting to Minneapolis every day, is available for all your TOWN Sports needs, and still manages to get her kids to hockey practice and piano lessons on time (most of the time). You can reach Anne at 612-386-7561.

Karen (Nielsen) Wisdorf

An insurance professional for over 25 years, Karen is excited to be involved in bringing TOWN Sports to the Farmington area. Karen grew up with a Farmington zip code, attending Rosemount Schools. Karen and her husband Jeff have three children (McKenzie, 20; Jarrod, 13; Audrey, 10). Their children have been or are involved in softball, track, basketball, football, baseball, lacrosse, tumbling and competitive cheer. Karen has an active bowling team, loves country music, and will do anything to help out her neighbor – or the community. You can reach Karen at 612-759-0933.

Shannon (Widman) Nielsen

Shannon is a born entrepreneur who found herself married into a like-minded family. Even though she is an outlaw (married to Janie, Anne and Karen’s youngest brother), she is an integral part of the founding of TOWN Sports. A graduate of Lakeville High School and the University of Minnesota, Shannon has been a Farmington resident for 15 years. Shannon and her husband Erik have three children (Ellie, 14; Charlie, 11; and Sawyer, 9) that keep them putting over 30,000 miles on her Suburban every year driving to softball, hockey, volleyball, lacrosse, football and horseback riding lessons. In her “real” life, Shannon is a licensed Realtor with Keller-Williams Preferred Realty and a Team Leader and Personal Stylist for Ruby Ribbon, a women’s wardrobe-basics company.
